Winter Hope

People have different thoughts about winter. Some look forward to the cold and snow for activities such as hunting and skiing and others would rather crawl under a blanket next to a blazing fire and not venture outside until spring.

Regardless of how you feel about winter, the reality is that it can be a very difficult time. It is a stressful time for wildlife; it can be a dangerous time to travel; shorter days contribute to depression; and the list could go on.

Another winter reality is that it will come to an end. Genesis 8:22 states, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, And cold and heat, And summer and winter, And day and night Shall not cease.”

This gives me hope. The tough time of winter will not last forever. The warm, life-producing, fruitful time of spring and summer are ahead.

We often face “winter” experiences in life. The death of a loved one, the loss of a job, an argument with a spouse, etc. When facing such seasons of life, be encouraged to know that there is hope. Just as the winter season will come to an end, these times in life will pass as well. God’s mercy and grace can bring you through this season so you can find and experience new life and growth.
