Blameless Before God

Luke 1:6 – And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

This verse is Luke’s testimony of Zacharias and Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist. I wonder if it might have been difficult for them to live this type of life. Personally, I have struggled at times to live a life that I believed was in keeping with “all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.”

The truth is that no one can do this apart from the great work of God in his or her life. And SURPRISE!, God knows this. That is why He sent Jesus Christ to be the fulfillment of the Law for all who will believe in Him. To be righteous before God today, one must place his faith in Jesus Christ to be saved. After this, the Holy Spirit of God dwells within that person and enables him to live in obedience to God.

You will never be perfect in this life, but you can be blameless before God because God has put any blame for your wrongdoings upon Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:24 – Who Himself [Jesus] bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.)
